Common Physiotherapy Problems

Practically most of the musculoskeletal disorders require Physiotherapy. Ranging from age related disorders such as osteoarthritis, post traumatic dysfunctions to sports injuries and workplace problems such as back pain and neck pain, physiotherapy can be extremely helpful in all these painful syndromes. Such problems are often mutli-factorial and intervention should be based on lifestyle modifications, postural corrections, flexibility, strengthening of muscles and building endurance which can only be achieved by highly specific physiotherapy protocols.

Some of the common conditions treated by Physiotherapy are :

Shoulder Problem
Shoulder- Rotator Cuff Strains, Impingement syndromes, Biceps Tendonitis, Bursitis, Frozen shoulder, shoulder stiffness after injury or surgery, Recurrent subluxations, instabilities, Glenoid labral injuries muscle injuries , muscle imbalances leading to shoulder pain while playing, inflexibility in certain muscles such as rotator cuff, pectorals which are a common cause of sports injuries etc.

Elbow probelm Elbow - Extensor Tendinopathy (commonly called Tennis elbow), Golfers elbow, Elbow stiffness post surgery or immobilization, Lateral collateral ligament sprain, radial tunnel syndrome, overuse syndrome, little leagues elbow(less common in India as this condition is common in baseball)

Wrist and Hand Problems Wrist and Hand - Ligamentous sprains, Carpal Tunnel syndrome, 1st CMC joint(thumb joint) sprains, Jersey’s Finger(injury to the tip of the finger leading to tendon damage)

Hip and Thigh comman problems
Hip and Thigh - Hip Pointer (direct hit on the hip), Capsular injury to the hip, Groin sprain(common in athletes), Piriformis syndrome(common condition leading to sciatica like symptoms), quadriceps strain/contusion(direct hit), hamstring strain
